We offer several different ways for you to pay for your donation. There are two easy steps:
1. Simply select the organization you want to support by looking through our lists of affiliated charities.
2. Click on the ‘+‘ symbol next to your preferred payment method below to see the details for making your donation using that method.
With this option, your donation will be processed through PayPal.
You will be taken to a special page on the PayPal website, where you simply enter the amount of your donation, and select your payment option. If the page is not in your preferred language, you can select English or Spanish in the lower-left corner of this screen.
If you already have a PayPal account, or if you want to create one for future use, you must choose the “Donate with Paypal” option.
If you do NOT have a PayPal account, and don’t want to create one, choose the “Donate with Debit or Credit Card” option.
PayPal also allows for ongoing monthly gifts. To do this, check the “Make this a monthly donation” box.
NOTE: Your U.S. tax receipt will be sent to you by email. If you would like your mailing address to appear on this receipt, please check “share my mailing address” once you’re in PayPal.
Make your check payable to “Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities, AC”. Please enclose a note with your email address, and the name of the organization to which your donation is to be designated.
To send it from the U.S. or Canada (NOT Mexico), mail your check here:
5802 Bob Bullock, Ste. 328C-4A
Laredo, Texas 78041
Checks written in Mexico must never be mailed! Instead, they should be placed in an envelope, marked “FOUNDATION – BOX 4A,” and dropped off at the front desk at HandyMail in San Antonio Tlayacapan, or given to a member of our Board of Directors. Handy Mail is located one block east of Super Lake on the carreterra.
Checks drawn on recognized US or Canadian Banks can be accepted in Mexico. However, checks drawn on a Credit Union account cannot be accepted in Mexico.
Please note: To make a donation in Mexico in excess of $250 US dollars, it is recommended that you make a wire transfer (see below). A wire transfer direct to the Foundation’s bank account will speed up your donation in reaching your designated charity. This is because checks deposited in Mexico greater that $250 USD must be sent by our local bank branch to their Mexico City office for processing – this takes up to eight weeks to reach our account for distribution of the funds to the charity.
If you are a US taxpayer, after you turn 70, a qualified charitable distribution (also known as a QCD) can help reduce the taxes you pay on your annual required minimum distribution.
This strategy allows you to give to a charity of your choice through the Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities, while limiting your tax burden. It is available even if you take a standard deduction.
