The cities around Lake Chapala, Mexico, contain a very large community of retirees primarily from the U.S. and Canada who have bonded with the local people. The retirees the significant poverty around the lake and started a number of charities to assist the poor.

A number of charities were formed to provide financial support to children from extremely poor families so the children have an opportunity to attend school instead of working to help support their families. Your financial assistance helps them break that barrier so they can go on through secondary school, high school and college and thereby provide a much bettere means to care for their families.

A number of charities were formed to help children from poor families obtain much needed medical attention to correct problems of hearing loss and with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, meningitis, cancer and many types of birth defects. In addition to the local charities, we have local chapters of Shriners helping burn victims and Rotary International helping children with clift lips and palates. Withough your assistance these children could die or go through life with their disabilities.

And we have a number of orphanages and care facilities for children who have been abandoned or abused, and for the elderly who can not afford to care for themselves but desire the dignity of having a bed and food to eat.
