In 1970 Father Raul Navarro donated land in Chapala for the specific purpose of building a residence for elderly Mexicans who had no means of caring for themselves. In 1971 the Ladies Auxiliary of Chapala raised $300,000 pesos for construction of the main building. In 1972 the facility opened its doors to the poor. Six small houses have been built on the grounds since 1972 and the original building has been expanded to house more residents.

Casa de Anciónes de Chapala is a place where the elder residents of Lakeside, who have significant health issues, can receive respectful, compassionate care. The facility provides 24 hour nursing care, regular visits by doctors, a loving staff, and nutritios meals.

No one is turned away from the facility if there are beds. People in need of special care, who can afford to pay for services, are charged what they can afford to pay. But the Casa de Anciónos continues its founding purpose of providing care to those who have no means to support themselves.

There is a continuing need to care for this latter group of residents and the Casa de Anciónos needs to add apartments, if they can find the money for construction.

Your contribution could provide food and shelter to the elderly who can not afford to care for themselves.
